Imposter! Who me? I think you must be mistaken!

‘You think, “Why would anyone want to see me again in a movie? And I don’t know how to act anyway, so why am I doing this?” - Meryl Streep

'Even though I had sold 70 million albums, there I was feeling like “I’m no good at this.” Jennifer Lopez

'I think the most creative people veer between ambition and anxiety, self-doubt and confidence. I definitely can relate to that. We all go through that: “Am I doing the right thing?” “Is this what I’m meant to be doing?” Daniel Radcliffe

'When I won the Oscar, I thought it was a fluke. I thought everybody would find out, and they’d take it back. They’d come to my house, knocking on the door, “Excuse me, we meant to give that to someone else. That was going to Meryl Streep.” Jody Foster

Isn't it interesting that the people who have achieved the top level in their field all talk about imposter syndrome. It seems that no one is immune. When we read quotes like this from people we admire it can make us think "Jesus, if she's feeling it, how the f*ck am I going to get through it" but get through it we must. Much like fear, it's in the job description. Its one of the things you don't get told when you announce to the world you are going to follow your dreams. Your supporters are like 'You go girl" no one says "Enjoy the fear, crippling self-doubt, and imposter syndrome - You can do it!!!"

I recently read Chillpreneur by Denise Duffield Thomas - Its a brilliant book and she said something that blew me away she said "You are a contributor, you don't have to be a guru" I loved this. What I think we all need to realise is that we are perfect in our imperfection and that our knowledge, wisdom and experience are as unique as a fingerprint. Those that resonate with our style/product/business will, and those that don't, won't. It really is as simple as that. You are contributing to the conversation. Thats it and as long as you do that with passion and integrity then thats all you need to worry about.

Who needs to be the best? Do you love what you do?

The 'best' is completely subjective,

I came up with this mantra for myself...

I am the best person for those who feel aligned with my style and message. That isn't everyone, and thats ok. There are more people in the world who need what I do than there are doing what I do. Im happy with those numbers and I trust that those people will find me.

As Ditta Von Tease said "You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world. There is always going to be someone who hates peaches"

Be a peach, know your worth and be proud of where you are now, and what you have to offer now.
